REVIEW TIME!

Nothing south about my review of the Australian Fairy Tale Society (AFS) Anthology, South of the Sun.

This all Australian book of short story and flash fiction tales is a wonderful collection, with a style to suit every fairy taler connoisseur.

My top pick - The Deal by Gabi Brown.

This is a wonderfully woven Australiana down under portrayal of the, Pied Piper of Hamelin, Complete with a snake charmer, mouth organ playing hero, with a gentle nudge to the governmental hypocracy or was that hip pocket.

Other fav's

Jack, the Beanstalk and the NBN by Lindy Mitchell-Nilsson, What a Hoot!!

Curse of the Swan Prince by Ella Lamb, Not all fairy tales have happy endings.

No Horse, No Cart, No Shoes by Jackie Kerin

Rubeliya by Zoya Nojin

Cado by Anne E Stewart

Blendings, retellings of Australiana style and the all new tales that traverse past and present make for a wonderful collection,

but beware, "mozzies as big as bats" fairies in your fruit and Beasts that knock off your wives will be there to greet you. Don't be without your copy.
